Welcome to August! The last of the summer months, and a good time to enjoy the evenings when days go from hot to cool and the sunsets are spectacular. Here’s a pretty picture of a set of clouds catching the setting sun in Sacramento, snapped last week (it was in July, but you’d never know, right?) and doctored up specially for your desktop background.

The original photo had some distracting power lines in the sky, which I covered with a not-so-seamlessly-blended gradient. I clone-stamped (Photoshop tool) out some distracting signage on the buildings below, and with a curves adjustment brought the whole bottom section deeper into darkness. The typeface is “Futura”.
May your August be full of fun in the sun, as well as some quiet time to set and look at the sky as the sun goes down.
