Everything Wrong with the Capitol Shooting in 21 Minutes

This is the best footage I’ve seen yet of what took place inside the US Capitol on January 6th:

Georgia Senate Report on 2020 Election Fraud

Here is a 15-page summary of testimony on the 2020 election proceedings in Georgia, compiled by the senate Election Law Study Subcommittee.  So very many shenanigans reported.

Stolen elections are nothing new, of course.  In the words of Mark Crispin Miller:

“The people on the Right who are deploring this apparent theft for Biden-Harris have got to snap out of their amnesiac trance thinking this has never happened before.  It has happened repeatedly.  It’s just happening to their side now.   Elections have been stolen in this country by domestic players for decades; really since before 2000 when things got much worse because the Help America Vote act indirectly mandated the use of electronic voting systems all over the country, which is what we now have, which is one of the reasons that our voting system is so disgraceful.

So the Right needs to face the fact that some of their heroes were not actually elected, and the Left needs to face the fact that, much as they like the outcome this time does not make it legitimate.  And this all speaks to the urgent need for something like… dare I say it… solidarity among the American people.  I mean, this seems like a lost cause, I realize.  But if Americans continue to be at each other’s throats like this they will be extremely vulnerable to the worst repression.”

Why Increasing Number of Cases of COVID-19 is NOT Bad News: A Florida Doctor Talks Some Sense

From a letter to the editor of the Orlando Medical News:

Several times a day, on every possible news outlet, we are bombarded with updates as to the new number of “cases” of COVID-19 in the U.S. and elsewhere. News analysts then use these numbers to justify criticisms of those who dare to reject the CDC’s recommendations with regards to mask wearing and social distancing.

It is imperative that all Americans – and especially those in the medical profession – understand the actual definition of a “case” of COVID -19 so as to make informed decisions as to how to live our lives.

Older Americans remember all too well the dread they experienced when a family member was diagnosed with a “case” of scarlet fever, diphtheria, whooping cough (pertussis), or polio. During my career in family medicine, including several years as an Army physician, I have cared for patients with chickenpox, shingles, Lyme disease as well as measles, tuberculosis, malaria, and AIDS. The “case definition” established for all of these diseases by the CDC requires the presence of signs and symptoms of that disease.

In other words, each case involved a SICK patient. Laboratory studies may be performed to “confirm” a diagnosis, but are not sufficient in the absence of clinical symptoms.

Having now been privileged to care for sick patients with COVID-19, both in and out of the hospital setting, I am happy to see the number of these sick patients dwindle almost to zero in my community – while the “case numbers” for COVID-19 continue to go up. Why is that?

New Website in the Works

Hi friends,

My website got hacked in October of this year by some silly spammers who preyed on my seriously-out-of-date wordpress site and installed all sorts of links to sites hosting malware.

After a few weeks of all visitors encountering a scary “Reported Attack Site” warning, I’ve finally gotten the place cleaned out.

How to do fancy website-fixing things?

How to do fancy website-fixing things?

We’re starting over with a new theme and an up-to-date version of WordPress. I’m working on restoring all the old images to my posts and to the “Art” page, where I’ll then add images of recent work.

Finally, I have a new episode of “Painting Pictures” ready to release as soon as I get the podcast page of the site sorted out.

I’m learning lots about databases and the giant mess that is WordPress.

Thanks very much for your patience, and I hope to be posting fresh juicy content very soon!

Update 11/29: is back up! New episodes of Painting Pictures coming soon.

Yours truly,
